Guyana's Biodiversity
Guyana’s rain forests are a few of the most biodiverse places in the world. Approximately 80% of Guyana is covered in tropical rain forests, and the savannas savannas are home to over 800 species of birds and 1000 types of trees.

Animals in Guyana
Mammals
Many animals call the Guyanese rain forests their home. Monkey and deer are the most commonly found animals. A few of the more exotic animals spotted are sloths, great anteaters, capybaras, and armadillos.

Various types of snakes and lizards can be found slithering or crawling at the bottom of the rain forest floor.
Sea Creatures
There is an abundance of sea life on the coastline and rivers of Guyana. Grouper and snapper are the most common types of fish. Stingrays, like sharks, can be found offshore. The largest fish located in Guyana is the Piraucu fish. It can grow up to 14 feet long, and it is one of the main predators on the coastline.
